Joanne Rowling was born the 31st of July in 1965. She created the Harry Potter fantasy series. When Joanne first started writing, she submitted her first book in long hand, because she couldn't afford a typewriter. She is now in the top ten most wealthiest women in Brittan, and one of the most influential. Her books are now translated in several different languages world wide.
In 1990, she was on a four day trip on a train when she discovered her mother, who had multiple sclerosis died. She said," I was writing Harry Potter when my mother died, I had never told her about Harry Potter." She went on to say the death affected her writing. She induced more detail about Harry's loss in the first book because of this.
About a year later, she was given a fifteen hundred dollar advance by Editor Barry Cunningham, a small publishing house in London. It was because of Cunninghams daughter, Alice Newton, an 8 year old, that the book was published. He gave her the first chapter for review, and she demanded the next chapter.
The following spring, an auction was held in the U.S. for rights to the book. It was won by Scholastic for 105,000 U.S. dollars. Harry Potter is now on he international market, and is worth 15 billion dollars.
No wonder J.K. Rowling is considered one of the most influential writers of all time. Her main tools in life are her creativity, her pen, and her paper. Can you imagine going from not owning a typewriter to being one of the richest women in the world? She is one lady that literally worked her way to the top. She worked hard at that. Writing is something that takes patience, practice, creativity and skill. J.K. Rowling seems to have mastered writing. She was told not to quit her day job once, now she is seen in magazines, bookshelves, and televisions across the globe. J.K. Rowling's story is one of inspiration for many.
