Increase Your Chances of Being Hired

persuasion

There are many different types of persuasion, for many different circumstances, and people.  It is never good to persuade someone for evil gain. Remember karma, when applying persuasion to your life. If you decide it is for the better good, then you may use it with ease.

increase your chances

Have you tried to land job, after job, with no luck? Some studies suggest the economy is getting better, but there are people suffering still.  There are some people working for minimum wage jobs, and have degrees. There are others that are yet to have a job at all. I feel in situations like this, persuasion may be used for the better good. If you understand how to use persuasion when hunting for a job, your chances of getting that job increase.

presentation

I am writing this in hope that even just one person hunting for a job, that desperately needs it, can land one with ease.

First you must understand that people make judgments of you in a few seconds. This means your presentation is VERY important. You must study the atmosphere in which you are applying. How are those people dressed? Casual? In business attire? You know the saying, “when is Roam…” You must dress according to the environment in which you are applying.

research

The next step is to do some research on the person that is going to hire you, if possible. How does this person think? If you can get any of his/her likes, or dislikes, this can be powerful. If you can find out your future bosses likes, or dislikes, you have more of a chance at striking up a conversation that will spark his interest from the beginning. If you cannot find out his likes and dislikes, do not worry about this step.

the environment

How stressed is the environment in which you are applying? This will be one of the key factors into how you will present yourself. If the environment is professional, you must act in that way when you are going in for your interview. Mimic them in certain ways. However, do not get confused with just one person’s behavior, and act like a clown. You need to study everyone’s behavior in the office, as a group. Also, study the interaction between the employees and the boss.  If the employees are ridged around the boss, you must understand that he/she more likely than not expect nothing but a professional atmosphere, and nothing less. Be on your toes with this type of boss in an interview. If the employees are joking, (especially joking with the boss)the boss has a slight since of humor. You may use a very small since of humor in an interview with a boss like this. Even still, don’t act like a clown, but some light humor will help you in a situation like this.

resume in hand

Now that you have studied the atmosphere and the boss, you may go in, with your resume in hand. Dress according to the environment you are in. Blend in. Let them think you are a part of that environment already.

Find out what the bosses name is, and request him/her by name. This will increase the probability of you being able to hand him/her the resume in person. It is always best to turn in a resume in person, instead of leaving it at a desk somewhere with hopes it will be seen with the other millions of resumes.

mimic

If she tells you the boss is busy, then do not leave your resume, ask when the best time to come back and speak to him/her is.

When you finally do get to speak to the boss, mimic their posture, tone of voice, and body language. You are letting the boss think you are just like them when you do this, and you are gaining rapport. You must do so in the very instant that you meet him/her. When you mimic them, make sure it is not obvious. Do this subtlety. Remember, a person will make judgment of you with-in seconds of meeting you. Within the first few seconds of you doing this, you will have increased your odds considerably.

in the office

When you get back into the office, use what you have learned about the place you have applied.

Use what you have learned about your boss. If you’re your boss likes cat fish, let him know that you are going to eat some catfish after the interview. When you slip this in, do so where it doesn’t seem obvious.

Do not show that you are nervous, if you are. Be smooth, and confident. Use the boss’s name. When you use someone’s name, it actually increases the chances of hearing what you have to say, and it creates more rapport.

If you use the tips listed, you have increased your odds of getting hired considerably. Good luck, and happy job hunting.
